Syte Black Review
I was contacted by Adam Carn requesting a review of his product, Syte Black (www.SyteBlack.com), on this blog in exchange for use of a beta version of the product. As it is relevant to the blog, and as I’m interested in trying this out to see if I can make some money from it, I accepted. Please keep in mind that this is a beta version of Syte Black and therefore not necessarily exactly how the final product will be.
This review is more of a first look at the product itself, how easy it is to use and understand, how easy it is to create a site from it, as well as my initial thoughts. As I have only had this for a few days I can’t say whether or not it will make you money, but I can give some thoughts as to what I think the potential is here, so that’s what I aim to do. What Is It?
Syte Black is a Windows application which allows a user to easily create a potentially money making website which consists of sleek, modern graphics, well written content and three income streams (ClickBank, Adsense and Amazon).
Here’s the official blurb from the Syte Black website:
“It will be your own ready-made money making website with cutting edge features and super-sleek graphics. No need to put up with an ugly website anymore!
Once setup (it’s easy) Syte Black will make you money on auto-pilot so you can get away with being lazy.
Are you a newbie? No problem! Syte Black will be totally newbie friendly too!”
Installation
The installation of Syte Black is fairly simple. You just unzip the file to your C: drive (must be the root of C: otherwise the application doesn’t work as it should – as I found out), so the SETUP folder is found under C:\SyteBlackFiles. Within the setup folder there are a couple of exe files, install.exe and SyteBlackSetup.exe. Now, you’re supposed to just be able to run SyteBlackSetup.exe, but this didn’t work for me the first time. In the instructions this is mentioned, and in this case you need to first run install.exe, then SyteBlackSetup.exe. Personally I think whatever install.exe does (I believe it copies a required file to your system folder) could be integrated into the main app to avoid this extra step and make things just a little smoother. However, it’s no big deal and the application ran fine following this step.
Setting Up a Site
The application itself looks pretty straightforward, and every field available has an explanation in the setup instructions provided.
In the first section all that is needed is to enter the domain name you will be setting your Syte Black site up on (without the http or www part, ie. example.com), your ClickBank ID, Adsense ID and Amazon ID. Just one thought on this… I haven’t tried setting a site up from Syte Black on a sub-domain yet, but I have a feeling you’d have some trouble with that as it seems to assume the www part of the address, so putting in something like subdomain.example.com might break things a bit in the site with it trying to use www.subdomain.example.com. I’ll try this out and report in a future post.
The second section allows you to specify a page description and keywords for each page, as well as to specify a URL to an article to be included on the page, this article must be from ArticleDashboard.com. It’s fairly simple to find related articles on ArticleDashboard, and there is quite alot of choice.
You are given set topics for your pages (there doesn’t seem to be a way to change this). The pages you get for your site are:
- cars
- computers
- finance
- Index (your home page, co you can choose whatever type of article you are after for your site here)
- privacy (no need for an article for this one - not sure why you are given the option to, maybe to specify a custom privacy page?)
- shopping
- travel
I know that this is aimed at beginners who might not need or want to, but I think it would be much better to give a user the option to set their own page titles/topics, rather than force them to use these preset ones.
Once you’ve specified the above, you simply hit the Modify files button and the app will go through each HTML file, insert your ClickBank, Adsense and Amazon IDs, as well as page description and keywords, into the relevant places and download and insert your chosen articles. Once this is finished you are ready to upload the files to your site. See, it’s that simple.
You will need to already have web hosting and a domain name ready for your Syte Black site, and you’ll need your FTP details for the next bit.
All you need to do is to enter your FTP server address, username, password and specify the path to the root of your site (this will normally be /public_html/ but you should check this first). Now, just hit the Upload Files button and the app will go ahead and upload all the necessary files to your chosen site.
Once that’s done, that’s it! Your new site is up.
What Does The Generated Site Look Like?
Here is an example of what a Syte Black site looks like, this is using the default images.
You can also check out the site I used to test this on, since it’s on a domain I once bought but now doubt I’ll set any other type of site on 
. The site is www.antique-watches.info.
You can swap the site images with your own, or even edit the default ones (PSD files - for use in Photoshop - are provided). This way you can give your site a unique look so it doesn’t look like every other site created with this software.
I think it would be a great idea for Adam to also release optional graphics “packs” that users can download and unzip straight into the folder to change the look of the site. He may already be planning this, but it’s just a thought.
Will This Make Me Money?
The big question.
Once your site is up, you do have to do all the marketing yourself; submitting to search engines, directories, forum marketing etc. It’s all up to you, so maybe one of the biggest factors in whether you make money or not would be how hard you work to market your site. Adam has mentioned that he will be providing guides with this product for going about doing marketing but they aren’t quite ready yet so I can’t comment on those.
At the moment I honestly don’t know about the money making potential here as I’m also fairly new to this. I am going to be testing this with a site of my own and posting results back here during the next few weeks, and I hope it can make the kind of money claimed on the Syte Black website!
Syte Black should be available for sale in the next 3-4 weeks, most probably for a price of $97.
